Migration Specialist.
Dr Shum’s Migration Consultancy was established in 1995 as an offshoot of the Advisory Centre for Australian Education to handle all immigration matters.
Dr Shum graduated from the University of Hong Kong. After graduating in 1971, he won several scholarships for postgraduate studies in Hong Kong, Japan and Australia. In 1979, he received his doctorate from the Australian National University. From 1978 to 1994, he taught at the University of New South Wales before embarking on a new career in migration.
Specifically to develop and expand the work of the Advisory Centre, Dr Shum intensively studied Australian immigration laws and conducted research on numerous immigration case studies. Applying his academic training and analytical discipline, Dr Shum developed extensive migration expertise and an enviable reputation for success, with favourable outcomes on several difficult cases. He was invited to contribute weekly articles to various Chinese newspapers in Australia, and became widely known for his up-to-date and accurate expositions of Australian immigration law as well as immigration policies. The reputation of Dr Shum’s Migration Consultancy is second to none in the Sydney Chinese community.
