About Us

Founder Ursula Ng

As a pioneer in the international education sector, Ursula founded ACAE in 1988 with the aim of providing the best service to international students. With more than 30 years of experience in the industry, she has contributed greatly to the international student sector. Some of these milestones include publishing Education and Living in Australia, the first magazine of its kind for the Australian Chinese community, organising the first international student education exhibition in Australia in 1995, and being one of the founding members of the International Student Education Agents Association (where she was elected to the Board of Directors in 2018).

 

Highly regarded in the industry, Ursula is considered a leading voice in international education, having been interviewed frequently by both the Australian and Chinese media, including the Sydney Morning Herald, Australian Financial Review, SBS Chinese radio, 2AC Radio, and 2CR Radio among many others. She contributed regularly for many years to local Chinese newspapers and magazines as an education and migration columnist.

Before founding ACAE, Ursula worked as a senior social worker and later served as the Vice President of the Australian Chinese Community Association (ACCA), the largest Chinese community organisation of those days.

Managing Director Jessie Xiao

Jessie is a Chartered Accountant with more than 20 years of professional experience since her early career with Ernst & Young. She later moved into funds management before establishing her own businesses from 2005 onwards, founding over 10 hospitality and entertainment venues and production companies.

 

Jessie has also devoted her time to charitable work for the community throughout the past 20 years. She is the current President of the Way In Network, a well recognised not-for-profit organisation set up to assist new migrant women settle in Australia and integrate into the mainstream community, and her former roles as Vice President of Haymarket Chamber of Commerce, member of the Nightlife and Creative Sector Advisory Panel (City of Sydney Council) & the NSW Multicultural Women's Reference Group (NSW Department of Home Affairs). 

 

In December 2015, Jessie was awarded the prestigious title of“Top 10 Outstanding Young Cantonese Award”at the 2nd Global Conference of the Cantonese held in Zhuhai, China.

 

In September 2019, she was invited to join as a member of the Nightlife and Creative Sector Advisory Panel (City of Sydney Council) to engage in discussions to activate the Sydney night time economy.  

 

In June 2020, Jessie was invited by the director of NSW Department of Home Affairs to join the newly formed NSW Women's Reference Group, aimed at identifying ways to minimise adverse impacts and maximise positive impacts of departmental initiative.

Executive Director Terence Chau

Terence graduated from the University of Sydney in 1999 with a Bachelor of Commerce. He began his career as a research analyst with a leading funds management firm before going on to become a well-respected entrepreneur. Together with Jessie Xiao, Terence has, since 2005, built, established and invested in a diverse portfolio of businesses spanning award-winning hospitality and entertainment venues, insurance broking, interior design, concert and stage show promotion, as well as education and migration services.

 

Terence also has a strong passion for thoroughbred horse racing in Australia and is a Co-Founder and Director of the Australian Chinese Jockey Club (Sydney Chapter) with the aim of promoting racehorse ownership within the Chinese community while also giving back to the wider community through various charitable initiatives held throughout the year.

Office Manager Nancy Wu

Nancy is ACAE's Office Manager and Accountant, and a valued member of our management team. Over the past decade, she has successfully contributed her extensive accounting expertise and strong management skills to continued success of the business. Nancy's professionalism, integrity, hard-working attitude and personable nature have earned her the respect of both colleagues and clients, making her a trusted leader and mentor within the team.

 

Nancy has also served as a Justice of the Peace since 2012.

ACAE China Marketing Manager Doris

Doris Yao is currently the Marketing Manager of ACAE China.
 
Doris has an extensive education and work background. She has a double degree in Marketing and Human Resources from the University of Sydney as well as an MBA from the University of Technology Sydney. 


After returning to Beijing in 2009, Doris worked with several leading real estate companies, specialising in product development, branding and integrated marketing communications (IMC). She has also been actively involved in education, assisting kindergartens with accreditation and development, while dedicating her time to community service as a Director of the China–Africa Civil Chamber of Commerce. In addition, she participated in the planning and delivery of the PBIC Youth Charity Innovation International Competition. Passionate about cultural exchange between China and Japan, Doris is also a member of the Japanese Tea Ceremony Association and the Japanese Flower Arrangement (Ikebana) Association. Her artwork in painting and calligraphy has been presented by the Ambassador to the First Lady of Malawi.

 

Doris has been with ACAE China for more than 10 years, working closely with Director Ursula in coordinating school partnerships, student recruitment, education promotion, and liaison with schools and institutions throughout China. She is committed to guiding students through every stage of their study abroad journey and supporting their long-term academic and career development.

 

As a former international student in Australia with more than a decade of experience in education, culture and community service, Doris has a deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges faced by international students. Her experience and dedication have made her a highly valued member of the ACAE team.
