About Us

Founder Ursula Ng

As a pioneer in the international education sector, Ursula founded ACAE in 1988 with the aim of providing the best service to international students. In her 30+ years in the industry, she has contributed greatly to the international student sector. Some of these milestones include publishing the magazine "Education and Living in Australia", the first of its kind for the Australian Chinese community, organising the first international student education exhibition in Australia in 1995, and being one of the founding members of the International Student Education Agents Association (where she was elected to the Board of Directors in 2018).

 

Highly regarded in the industry, Ursula is considered a leading voice in international education, having been interviewed frequently by both the Australian and Chinese media including the Sydney Morning Herald, Australian Financial Review, SBS – Chinese radio, 2AC radio, and 2CR radio amongst others. She contributed regularly for many years to local Chinese newspapers and magazines as an education and migration columnist.

Prior to ACAE, Ursula was employed as a senior social worker and later served as the Vice President of the Australian Chinese Community Association (ACCA), the largest Chinese community organisation of those days.

Managing Director Jessie Xiao

Jessie is a Chartered Accountant with more than 20 years of experience since her early career with Ernst & Young. She then moved into funds management and later built her own businesses from 2005, founding over 10 hospitality & entertainment venues & production companies.

 

Jessie has also devoted her time to charitable work for the community throughout the past 20 years. She is the current President of the Way In Network, a well recognised non profit organization set up to assist new migrant women settle in Australia and integrate into the mainstream community, and her former roles as Vice President of Haymarket Chamber of Commerce, member of the Nightlife and Creative Sector Advisory Panel (City of Sydney Council) & the NSW Multicultural Women's Reference Group (NSW Department of Home Affairs). In 2015, Jessie was awarded the title of "Top 10 Outstanding Young Cantonese" at the 2nd Global Conference of Cantonese held in Zhuhai, China.

 

In December 2015, Jessie was awarded the prestigious title of“Top 10 Outstanding Young Cantonese Award”at the 2nd Global Conference of the Cantonese held in Zhuhai, China.

 

In Sept 2019, she was invited to join as a member of the Nightlife and Creative Sector Advisory Panel (City of Sydney Council) to engage in discussions to activate the Sydney night time economy.  

 

In Jun 2020, Jessie was invited by the director of NSW Department of Home Affairs to join the newly formed NSW Women's Reference Group, aimed at identifying ways to minimise adverse impacts and maximise positive impacts of departmental initiative.

Executive Director Terence Chau

Terence graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Sydney. Starting out his career as a research analyst for a large funds management firm he has since gone on to become an experienced and well respected entrepreneur. Along with Jessie Xiao, over the past 20 years Terence has built, created, and invested in many businesses across a broad portfolio of business interests in award winning hospitality and entertainment venues, insurance broking, interior design, concert and stage show promotion, and education agency and migration.

 

Terence also has a strong passion in thoroughbred horse racing in Australia and is a co-founder and director of the Australian Chinese Jockey Club (Sydney Chapter) with the aim of promoting racehorse ownership amongst the chinese community and also giving back to those in need through various charitable events held throughout the year.

Office Manager Nancy Wu

Nancy is our company Office Manager/Accountant and a key member of our management team. Over the past decade, Nancy has successfully contributed her advanced accounting experience and strong management skills to the business. Nancy's high standard of professional integrity, hard working attitude and personable nature have made her a popular office manager and mentor to her team.

 

Nancy has been appointed as Justice of the Peace since 2012. 

ACAE China Marketing Manager Doris

Doris Yao is currently the Marketing Manager of ACAE China.
 
Doris has an extensive education and work background. She has a double degree in Marketing and Human Resources from the University of Sydney and an MBA from the University of Technology Sydney. 
 
After returning to Beijing in 2009, she has worked in several well-known real estate industries in China, doing product establishment and marketing brand IMC integrated marketing; Doris is passionate about education and has personally prepared kindergartens to obtain the dean's certificate; she is also passionate about social welfare and has served as a director of the China-Africa Civil Chamber of Commerce; she participated in the preparation and implementation of the PBIC Youth Charity Innovation International Competition; she is passionate about cultural exchange between China and Japan and is a member of the She is also a member of the Japanese Tea Ceremony Association and the Flower Arrangement Association. Passionate about international education and cultural exchange affairs, his personal painting and calligraphy works were presented by the Ambassador to the First Lady of Malawi at the family dinner of Mrs. Africa.

 

She has been working for ACAE China for over 10 years, cooperating with the director Ursula during her visit to China and inter-school liaison and student work, as well as daily liaison work; doing education promotion and recruitment work in schools and institutions and patiently guiding students to study in Australia and make a contribution to their career development.

 
As a former international student in Australia with over ten years of passion for education, culture and public service, Doris is well versed in the opportunities and challenges faced by this group and has a deep understanding and experience of the education industry.
